Montague is an ex-Great Western pannier tank engine. He is now in service on the Arlesburgh Branchline.


Duck was built at Swindon in 1929 as the main shunting engine at Paddington Station on the Great Western Railway. In 1955 he was withdrawn, and the Fat Controller acquired him to become the Tidmouth Terminus shunting engine to replace Percy in order for him to be moved to the Ffarquhar Branchline to assist with the construction of Knapford Harbour. Duck was a hard worker and was sometimes able to take light goods trains. In 1957 a Class 08 Diesel Shunter, known only as Diesel, was borrowed from British Railways to take the extra weight of the increasing traffic off of Duck's couplings. After a little spat with some old derelict trucks, he spread lies and claimed that Duck had made fun of the big engines behind their backs. This was untrue but the trucks did not know, and neither did the big engines nor did the Fat Controller. With reluctance, he sent Duck to Wellsworth for a while until the engines calmed down. Duck was used as an assistant banking engine for several trains until one day, a runaway caused Duck to run head first into a barber's shop, and later resumed his duties while Diesel was sent packing. In 1967, The Fat Controller decided that Duck should be given the oppertunity to strech his wheels as a reward for his service to the yard. He was then given the job as the main operating locomotive on the Arlesburgh Branchline which now operates the line with Oliver, and sometimes Donald and Douglas.
